Stanbrough held her place on Friday, finishing second in the young women’s heptathlon at the Region 9 USATF Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships in Edwardsville, Ill.
Stanbrough also was in second after the first day of competition on Thursday.
Jamine Duckworth of the University City Explosion won the event, finishing with 3,634 points. Stanbrough was right behind with 3,507 points, while the East St. Louis Railers’ Ebony Washington was third with 2,581 points.
Stanbrough won the high jump, shot put and javelin portions of the heptathlon competition.
With the top-two finish, Stanbrough qualified to advance to the National USATF Junior Olympics to be held in Walnut, Calif. The top two competitors in multi-events and the top three finishers in other events advance to the national meet.
